Five of the main Eurozone Central Bank Governors will become members of the International Advisory Board of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani – Editori.
This body has been created to supervise one of two strategic challenges the Organization has to face: the economic and financial literacy in young people which goes hand in hand with its ongoing media literacy activity.
Klaas Knot (President of the Nederlandsche Bank), Luis M. Linde (Governor of the Banco de España), Francois Villeroy de Galhau (Governor of the Banque de France), Ignazio Visco (Governor of the Banca d’Italia) and Jens Weidmann (President of the Deutsche Bundesbank) have formally accepted an invitation by Andrea Ceccherini, the President of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani – Editori, to become members of the Board with the task of drawing an overview of pro-European values that shall be the basis of projects undertaken by the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori, as well as exercising a strict oversight of the implementation of such projects in line with the outlined values and define possible guidelines for the internationalisation process of the Organization’s projects.
The aim of the task will be to develop the economic and financial literacy of young people and their sense of belonging to the European community and will be the focus of the Board’s mandate. The “Young Factor” project on economic and financial literacy in young people, involving over half a million of Italian students in the upper secondary schools all over the country, will also be part of their remit.
The first meeting of the International Advisory Board will take place in Florence in early 2018.
