Roberto Nicastro was born in Trento on 9 December 1964. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University. In 1988-89 he was guest researcher at Bocconi University. From 1989 to 1991 he worked for the M&A Department at Salomon Brothers in London. From 1991 to 1997 he was Senior Manager at McKinsey & Co. in Milan responsible for strategic and organizational projects for financial institutions, regulatory authorities and consumer goods companies in Italy and Latin America. He joined Credito Italiano in 1997 as Head of Planning and Shareholdings. In 2000 he was appointed Deputy Director General and Head of the New Europe Division of UniCredit in charge of developing a leading position in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2003 he became Head of Group Retail Division. In 2007 he was appointed Group Deputy CEO with the responsibility for Retail. Since 2010 Roberto Nicastro has been Group General Manager for UniCredit, currently with responsibility for Central Eastern Europe, Poland, Austria, Innovation, Group Internal Control System, and Strategic Marketing. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Pekao S.A. and Member of the Supervisory Board of Bank Austria AG Vienna, UniCredit Bank Zao – Moscow; Deputy Vice Chairman of ABI (Italian Banking Association). He serves on the Advisory Boards of SDA Bocconi – in Milan, John Hopkins – Bologna and Alma – in Bologna, and is member of the AIFI Private Equity Management Board. From 2009 to 2012 he served as Chairman of EFMA (European Financial Marketing Association) and was a Member of Assonime.
