Born on 20 May 1953 in Milano, he holds a Law Degree and in 1973 he started working for the Corriere dei Ragazzi and later moved to the Corriere dell’Informazione. In 1979 he joined the Corriere della Sera. Having been Editor-in-Chief for L’Europeo and Il Sole 24Ore, he moved back to the Corriere della Sera in 1987. In 1997 he was appointed Editor and held this post until 2003. Between 2005 and 2009 he was at the helm of Il Sole 24 Ore. On 9 April 2009 he returned to the Corriere della Sera.
